Wappen am Bug
Verfasst: 29.11.2016, 09:57
Hallo an alle,

Hello everyone,
I’m new to this forum.
Here is a photo bought in Germany showing the bow of the German cargo ship "Gauss" (1925-1942) of the company Neptun in Bremen (http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/neptun.shtml).
During his civilian career, the "Gauss" bore this coats of arms but I didn’t find out what it corresponds to and where it come from. I think it is a godmother city but it doesn’t correspond to the coats of arms of Bremen, Bremerhaven, Hamburg nor Danzig, I mean the big harbours from which the boats of the company Neptun use to proceed to sea.
In France, this form is called “écu suisse” (Swiss shield). The picture is bad and B/W.
Could someone help me?
Thanks in advance and best regards

Sorry for my bad German, I can read it but not enough fluent to write it.
